No one intends to be in a car accident. And certainly no one intends to be the driver in a fatal accident that claims the life of a acquaintance and injures two others. One young man from Toronto has been charged with multiple crimes, including\u00a0impaired driving<\/a>, after a tragic crash in\u00a0the city’s downtown.<\/p>\n

The accident occurred on Nov. 28 around 10:15 p.m.\u00a0near the intersection of Bloor\u00a0Street East and Parliament Street. For unknown reasons, the car evidently left the road and struck a pole. No other vehicles were believed to have been involved. A 25-year-old male passenger was killed in the crash, and a 20-year-old female passenger was badly hurt. A third passenger suffered only minor injuries.<\/p>\n

The driver of the car, a 23-year-old man, has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm and impaired driving causing death. Charges of dangerous driving, and criminal negligence, both causing death and bodily harm, were also laid. He was taken into custody and appeared in court Dec. 1.<\/p>\n

Whatever the root cause of the accident turns out to be, there is no doubt the young man wishes he could go back and do things differently. The reality is he now faces serious consequences\u00a0for what happened that night.
