When tempers flare, rash decisions\u00a0often follow. Downtown Toronto was the scene of an accidental shooting this past spring, a direct result of one such decision. A west GTA\u00a0man finds himself charged with several\u00a0violent crimes<\/a>\u00a0after a late night argument got out of hand, and an unlucky bystander was injured.<\/p>\n

The incident took place on April 25, 2016 near Dundas\u00a0Street West and Euclid Avenue. A group of people was engaged in an argument around 12:30 a.m. when one man allegedly drew a gun on the group. He apparently fired the weapon toward the group but missed all of them. The bullet did strike an Uber\u00a0driver near the scene who was waiting for a passenger, and was not involved with the group. The alleged shooter left the scene in another vehicle.<\/p>\n

The lone victim of the shooting was a male in his 20s. He was taken to hospital and treated for what turned out to be a non-life threatening graze on his elbow. A 24-year old man was arrested on Sept. 13, 2016, and now faces 17 charges, including assault with a weapon, discharging a gun\u00a0with intent to wound and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.<\/p>\n

Though no one was seriously wounded, the accused still faces a litany of charges from the incident. Weapons-related offences, and violent crimes in general, are some of the most serious charges a person\u00a0can face. For any man or woman in Toronto\u00a0in a similar predicament, it would be prudent to seek counsel from a local criminal defence lawyer.<\/p>\n
