The lives of several people were forever changed after one man&#8217;s alleged\u00a0poor choices caused a major accident recently.<\/p>\n<p>Early in the morning of August 14, 2016, three vehicles were involved in a head-on collision in northeast Toronto. The accident occurred on Steeles Avenue East near Reesor\u00a0Road, a hilly, rural part of the city just north of Rouge Park. In attempt to pass a small sedan, the driver of a pickup truck moved from the westbound lane to the eastbound side of the road as the two vehicles crested a hill. The pickup struck an eastbound compact car, forcing the compact into a collision with the sedan.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the compact car, a 23-year old woman, was killed in the accident. A passenger in the car and\u00a0the driver of the pickup sustained injuries during the incident. The truck\u00a0driver, a 57-year old Whitby man, was arrested by Toronto Police and now faces eight charges, including impaired driving, criminal negligence, refusing to provide a breath sample and dangerous driving causing death.<\/p>\n<p>All of the charges facing the driver of the truck are very serious. Impaired driving is a weighty\u00a0allegation, and anyone accused of this crime in jeopardy of receiving a stiff penalty.
