While there are multiple crimes that could involve the use of a computer, one realm in which they have had a big impact is sex crimes. A 24-year-old man was recently arrested and charged with several sex crimes in conjunction with receiving photos and videos of teen girls via the computer.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, the man is charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two counts of luring a child under 16<\/li>\n<li>Three counts of counselling to commit the offence of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrlawyers.com\/chinese\/Sex-Crimes-Domestic-Offences\/Sexual-Exploitation-Internet-Luring-And-Child-Pornography-Offences.html\">making child pornography<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Two counts of making child pornography<\/li>\n<li>Two counts of possession child pornography<\/li>\n<li class=\"last-child\">Two counts of extortion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Police claim the man used Facebook to lure 13 and 14-year-old girls to send photos of an explicit nature. He allegedly used a similar plan with each girl. First, after starting an online relationship with them he offered the young teens money in exchange for explicit photos. After receiving the photos he demanded a variety of things including videos and more photos. Those who did not comply, he threatened to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/metronews.ca\/news\/toronto\/1425841\/richmond-hill-man-accused-of-extorting-sexual-pictures-videos-from-teens-surrenders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expose online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement opened an investigation into the matter when one of the girls went to the police and the man was charged after he turned himself in.<\/p>\n<p>The man turning himself in is not the same as admitting to the charges. As is the case with all criminal accusations, the man will have a chance to prove his innocence at a trial. In the alternative he may agree to a deal with the Crown.
