Man faces traffic crime charges in Ontario

A 38-year-old Haliburton man is facing charges after an accident in July that claimed two lives. Ontario Provincial Police arrested the man following the accident, and charged him with the crime of careless driving as well as several other, related charges. He is expected back in court in Lindsay on Nov. 2. 

Woman dead of apparent homicide in Toronto

Police say a 24-year-old woman was murdered in Toronto in mid-September, and the man accused of her murder is now in custody. Toronto police arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the apparent homicide, who now stands charged with several different crimes. He was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Sept. 21. 

Ontario man charged with homicide

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in Hamilton, according to local sources. Ontario authorities arrested the 29-year-old man, who has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a Toronto man. As with most homicide cases, this one is still under investigation by authorities.

Toronto man charged with homicide

Police have taken an 18-year-old man into custody for his suspected role in the stabbing death of another man in Scarborough, according to local sources. Toronto police services have charged the man with second-degree murder in connection with the case. This marks the city's 37th homicide this year. 

Hospital security guard faces sexual assault charges

A security guard working at a hospital in Newmarket is facing serious charges after several women alleged that he assaulted them. Ontario has strict laws governing treatment of sexual assault cases, involving extensive cross-examination and a strong reliance on victim testimony. However, it should be noted that a sexual assault charge could sometimes prove damaging to an accused individual's life even if he or she is proven innocent. 

Crime report: Man charged with attempted murder

A 45-year-old man faces charges for his alleged role in an assault that nearly turned fatal. Ontario police arrested the man on Aug. 8 after an investigation into the alleged crime. The man was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Aug. 15. It's likely that he is working with criminal defence representation to prepare for the legal proceedings.

Ontario man facing homicide charges

A 36-year-old man in Tweed is facing serious jail time if he is found guilty of charges that he murdered another man. Ontario authorities charged the man with homicide after arresting him on the scene. The man is scheduled to appear in a Belleville court on Sept. 7 for his arraignment. 

3 arrested on drug crime charges

Police say they have uncovered and dismantled one of the biggest drug rings they have ever encountered. Ontario authorities arrested three people, including two Canadians and one Costa Rican, all of whom are now being held on drug crime charges. It will be up to prosecutors to actually prove the alleged connection between these individuals and the seized drugs.
