Woman charged with slew of violent crimes after altercation

Relationships sometimes bring out the worst in people, even after they're over. When tempers flare, altercations can occur and may even turn violent. That could be what happened after an east Toronto confrontation allegedly turned ugly, and a woman found herself facing numerous charges for violent crimes.

On Jan. 11, Toronto Police were called to a home in Scarborough to investigate a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers found a woman and a man, both of whom had suffered injuries. The pair reported that the man's ex-girlfriend had confronted him at the home, after which a fight broke out. The woman allegedly stabbed her ex in the torso, and he also suffered a wound to his hand; moreover, the other woman claimed to have been injured in an attempt to defend the man. They reported the suspect fled following the alleged assault.

The apparent victims were taken to hospital and treated for their injuries. While the police were still on site, the suspect returned to the home and was arrested by the officers. The 27-year-old woman was charged with three counts of assault with a weapon, and one count each of assault, aggravated assault, unlawfully being in a dwelling, breaking and entering with intent, carrying a concealed weapon and mischief.

There are times when one thing leads to another and a situation gets out of hand. In this particular case, however, things are said to have become criminally violent, and the accused is left in a very tough position. Defending against charges of violent crimes is not easy; anyone so accused should think carefully about what decisions he or she makes next. Choosing an experienced criminal defence lawyer who knows the Toronto are is an excellent way to start.
